La Leche League

La Leche League South Africa is a voluntary organisation which provides information and support to women who want to breastfeed their babies. La Leche League Leaders are experienced breastfeeding mothers, trained and accredited by LLL, who are happy to help other mothers with questions and concerns about breastfeeding. This one-to-one approach is one of the most effective (and friendly!) way of getting the support you need. It is important to notice that all our Leaders are mothers who volunteer their time and are therefore not always available.

Support workshops are available in Gauteng, Limpopo, Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Free State
Cleft Friends helps parents and children affected by cleft lips and palates by providing support as soon as possible after birth through a parent support group network of moms and dads of cleft children who have the necessary training and hands-on experience. These amazing parents have walked the same road and want to share their stories of hope with others. It is the initial contact with another parent that makes all the difference. It sends a message of hope and relief in a traumatic situation. Our vision is to create awareness and educate communities about cleft lips and palates.

Toy Library Resource & Developmental Play Centre

(011) 683-7200/01/ www.cotlands.org.za/toy-libraries/

In order to meet a greater number of children’s needs, Cotlands offers play sessions for birth to six year olds who do not have access to early learning opportunities. Our programmes are based on best practice principles ensuring the holistic development of each of the children we serve. Each two hour early learning session is structured around a routine, creating learning and play opportunities that develop children’s language, mathematical, problem solving, gross motor, fine motor as well as social and emotional skills. A toy library is a high impact, cost effective non-centre based programme that gives children, their families, early learning facilitators and ECD practitioners access to a collection of carefully selected educational play materials, early learning sessions and toys in their own communities and households. The main focus is on ensuring that the   young child has access to educational development opportunities and will be ready for formal schooling when the time comes to enter Grade R.
